About
The Story of Marquem Çeşme
Since the early 2000s, our family farm located in the Altınkum area of Çeşme has been dedicated to cultivating mastic, olive, and various fruit trees, along with growing vegetables and producing natural agricultural products. Additionally, we have been engaged in raising Sakız sheep and promoting sustainable farming practices.
In recent years, we’ve been delighted by the increasing interest shown by both the public and government institutions in mastic trees. Currently, our farm is home to nearly 1,000 mastic trees of various ages. Around 20 years ago, we began our journey with a small number of mastic seedlings, painstakingly obtained from producers and farmers in Çiftlikköy and Alaçatı. Inspired by our grandfather, a professor and agricultural engineer, we received guidance and support from both our agricultural faculty and the local agricultural offices in Çeşme. With patience and dedication, we expanded our initial plantings to a thriving grove of 1,000 mastic trees.
During the planting phase, we adhered to scientific guidelines regarding planting intervals, fertilization, irrigation, and natural care methods. These efforts have resulted in a model mastic grove. Propagating mastic trees, a process more challenging than other tree types, required scientific support. This support enabled us to improve our grove by grafting existing wild mastic trees on our farm. Through branch cuttings rooted in mature trees, we successfully produced healthy and productive seedlings.
In addition to mastic trees, our farm has made significant strides in olive tree cultivation, steadily increasing capacity and productivity each year. We harvest our own olives and produce high-quality olive oil and table olives.
Our farm also continues its livestock and breeding activities, including the care of rare Sakız sheep, horses, pigeons, chickens, and goats. This effort, rooted in family tradition and passion, is not driven by economic gain but rather by a desire to preserve heritage and support local producers. We source feed and veterinary services from local suppliers, strengthening ties with the community.
We are thrilled to open this vibrant and natural farm to our guests. The overwhelming interest and positive feedback we’ve received since our first year have motivated us to continuously improve and enhance our offerings. Whether for special occasions, events, or stays with large families or groups of friends, we would be delighted to host you in our 10-room facility, featuring expansive event spaces and a serene front garden immersed in nature.
